Many times in life we find ourselves in situations that seem more than we can bare; whether its a bad breakup, betrayal of a friend, loss of a loved one, bad health diagnosis, the list is endless.
So the response tends to be isolation from everyone and everything around you. But this is exactly how the enemy wants us to respond. When we are alone and isolated he begins to place thoughts of doubt, fear, discouragement, loss of worth and value, to where soon you can’t even see a reason to keep going…
We have to know the enemy’s schemes and be smarter than that! There are many people in the Bible that faced similar challenges but their responses weren’t ‘typical’ of how many of us respond… there response was blessing the Lord and worship! I can hear you now… yeah that’s the last thing that I want to do when my heart is shattered in a million pieces. Actually that’s the BEST TIME to worship! That place will bring you STRENGTH, HOPE, PEACE, and PURPOSE in a time that makes no sense.
Job 1:20 Job got to his feet, ripped his robe, shaved his head, then fell to the ground and worshiped:
21 Naked I came from my mother’s womb, naked I’ll return to the womb of the earth.
God gives, God takes. God’s name be ever blessed.
22 Not once through all this did Job sin; not once did he blame God.
At this point Job had just lost almost everything at one time… we think our problems are big; imagine having your business go bankrupt, your house burn down, your children get killed tragically and this being your response?
Job lived a ‘NOT MOVED’ life. Job knew that God would never destroy everything He had blessed him with. He knew that God would still provide and take care of him, even though it HURT right now! Yes this all HURT Job but he knew the appropriate response was worship! What would your response be? Check your heart today…
PSALM 63 The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God. A Psalm of David; when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
1 O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You;
My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 So I have gazed upon You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.
4 So will I bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul [my life, my very self] is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, And my mouth offers praises [to You] with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You on my bed, I meditate and thoughtfully focus on You in the night watches,
7 For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings [where I am always protected] I sing for joy.
8 My soul [my life, my very self] clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
9 But those who seek my life to destroy it Will [be destroyed and] go into the depths of the earth [into the underworld].
10 They will be given over to the power of the sword; They will be a prey for foxes.
11 But the king will rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him [honoring the true God, acknowledging His authority and majesty] will glory, For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.
David was in the wilderness thirsty, hungry, tired and exhausted; but his response was still worshipping the Lord. He had a relationship with God and knew that He was the source for him. He knew God was his protector from all harm, that God would strengthen and sustain him.
These men knew their source for their life! But the question today for you is… do you know yours? When life throws you rocks in the road, and the path takes sudden turns, how do you respond? If your first response is rage, anger, and blame then its time to sit back and check your heart… God’s promise is that He will never leave us or forsake us and guess what…He never does. But why are we so quick to walk away from Him the moment something doesn’t go the way we think it should? Many times we blame God for something that someone else made bad choices and decisions that led to hurt for us. Yet we think God should take away everyone else’s choice; but yet we want Him to let us make our own choices… It doesn’t work both ways; either God lets us make our choices and live with those decisions; or He’s a dictator and never lets you make any choices at all…
Today my prayer is that you will have a new encounter with Jesus that let’s you see that He is with you through the mountain tops and the valleys. He will never leave you…NEVER! Remember we are ‘NOT MOVED’ so together lets lean on each other and keep walking towards Jesus!
