"Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him…" Colossians 2:7

Remember when…

Sometimes I think it’s so easy to move on and forget where God actually brought you from. When life is going good, you have everything you think you need… It’s very easy to overlook where you were before you met God.

It’s easy to forget the broken person you were, the angry person that you were, even the lonely person you were. You thought that there was no hope for you…well ever. Until the day came that you hit rock bottom and someone showed up and introduced you to who you had been searching for all along but you didn’t even realize it.

You ran right into MERCY, GRACE, HOPE, PURPOSE, and LOVE like you had never experienced before. Jesus came with no agenda but to have your heart! And in the state you were in that’s barely all you had to give. This is such a beautiful exchange and something to remember.

‘Falling in love with Jesus’ is one of the greatest things that will ever happen to you. That’s why you hear it referred to many times as going back to your ‘first love’ in worship songs…because sometimes we forget what it was really like….

Then many of us find ourselves entangled in the world of religion and pride. This is such a dangerous place for a Child of God to be. Because once you enter this realm, you aren’t really a ‘lover of Jesus’ anymore. You tell people that you are but your heart is so far from Him.

It’s in that place we begin to criticize more than we encourage others to grow closer to God. We try to out do each other for position and status more than cheer on each other for what purpose God has on their lives. We even begin to question everyone’s motives and things they say or preach because we think that we know better.

We have to remember that we are still in need of the same Jesus that we encountered and it changed our lives. We have not arrived at a place that we no longer have a need for Him. Each one of us Pastor, greeter, or nursery worker you are in need of an intimate relationship with Jesus every single day of your life!

In order to keep living a life for Jesus and NOT BE MOVED by every passing storm we face… we must check our heart and ask ourselves where am I in my heart with Jesus? When is the last time I actually sat and cried in prayer just seeking His face? When is the last time I turned off the TV and just wanted to read the Word of God because something in me had such a hunger for the Word? When was the last time I let loose in worship & lifted my hands as high as I possibly could in surrender to the one who SAVED MY LIFE?

When was the last time I was desperate for more of Him? Literally desperate to be closer to Him then you are right now at this very moment? …..I bet many people don’t have much to say to this because we’ve let our love grow cold.

Today I am pleading with you and everyone else reading this… please take some time to rekindle the flame in your heart for Jesus! Fan the flame, so that you can burn with a fiery passion for Him like you did when He took you from rock bottom! Remember the GRACE, MERCY, PEACE, and LOVE that He covered you in!

He still wants to do this in you today! So together let’s keep STANDING FIRM and remaining NOT MOVED!
